One Ukrainian soldier from a mechanized brigade was killed near the Butovka Mine as a result of Russia-backed shelling from 82-mm and 120-mm mortar-launchers, Liga.net reported, citing the ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation] evening dispatch yesterday April 12.
The ATO earlier reported here were 52 attacks from Russia-backed forces during that day; in the evening report, they cited 42 additional incidents.
In its early morning dispatch April 13, the ATO reported 61 attacks over night with the use of heavy armor. One Ukrainian soldier was killed as was previously reported, and two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded.
Most attacks were along the coast by Mariupol including the firing of 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and a BMP as well as grenade-launchers and heavy machine guns on Vodyanoye and Maryinka. An armed BMP and small arms were fired on Shirokino; 120-mm mortars were fired on the Ukrainian marines at Gunotovo; anti-tank grenades and machine guns were fired on Granitnoye, Talakovka, Pavlopol and Gnutovo. Snipers wer active around Vodyanoye as well.
On the Donetsk line, Avdeyevka and the Butkovka mine came most under fire, with 82-mm and 120-mm mortars at the mine and 82-mm mortars, grenade-launchers, anti-tank missile systems and machine guns fired on Avdeyevka. An armed BMP attacked Opytnoye and Kamenki and Zaytsevo were attacked with anti-tank grenade-launchers and heavy machine guns. Near Peski and Luganskoye, militants fired heavy machine guns on populated reas. Snipers were active near Avdeyevka and Troitskoye.
On the Lugansk line, 82-mm, grenade-launchers and machine guns were fired on Novoaleksandrova; an armed BMP fired on Ukrainian positions at Krymskoye and grenade-launchers on positions at Katerinovka. Grenade-launchers and heavy machine guns were used to attack Ukrainian positions near Novozvanovka.
In its evening dispatch, the ATO reported most attacks were on the coastal line, the Ukrainian marines’ position at Vodyanoye was most under attack by 120-mm and 122-mm artillery and armed BMPs. Shirokino was attacked with 120-mm mortar-launchers and an armed BMP and grenade-launchers. Near Gnuotov, militants fired 120-mm mortars; heavy machine guns were fired on Chermalyk. Snipers were active near Talakovka and Vodyanoye.
On the Donetsk line, Ukrainian defenders were attacked at Avdeyevka with 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and at Opytnoye with 82-mm mortars. Grenade-launchers, an armed BMP and anti-tank missile systems were also fired on Ukrainian positions. Grenades were fired on Nevelskoye and small arms were used on the Butovka mine.
On the Lugansk line, grenade-launchers of various types were used to attack Novoaleksandrovka and Katerinovka.
Irina Gerashchenko, Ukrainian representative for humanitarian affairs in the Trilateral Contact Group said the number of Ukrainian POWs had risen to 126, despite the mandate of the Minsk Accords to free POWs unconditionally in one-for-one exchanges with Russia-backed forces, Liga.net reported.
