Three Ukrainian soldiers wounded amid 40 attacks in Donbas in last day
Russia's hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 40 times in the past 24 hours with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action (WIA), according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters. News 19 May from UNIAN.
Ukraine also reported that two civilian houses were destroyed by artillery fired by Russian-backed fighters in the Mariupol sector. The Ukraine Crisis Media Center reports:
In Mariupol sector militants shelled residential quarters in the eastern outskirts of Berdianske village. Direct hits completely destroyed two residential houses, several other buildings were seriously damaged. “Later the enemy shelled residential sector in Shyrokyne. Details are being established now. Luckily, there were no civilian casualties,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Russia-equipped militants conducted a 30-minutes shooting attack at Krasnohorivka with light and heavy weapons, firing 28 mortar rounds. They also used mortars near Maryinka just after the midday, and conducted two armed provocations in the north of Volnovakha district. Main hostilities took place later in Pavlopil-Shyrokyne frontline in the evening. “Russian proxies were shelling several Ukrainian frontline positions with cannons and mortars for around 2.5 hours, having discharged approximately 60 rounds. Later the enemy returned to the usual tactics of provocative attacks, mostly with small arms,” said the spokesman. In total, militants conducted 23 attacks in the Mariupol sector yesterday, using heavy weapons nine times.
