Five Ukrainian Soldiers Killed In Increased Shelling — Fire Near Kiev Kills 17

The Ukrainian military reports that five soldiers were killed and four wounded in increased shelling across the country:

"Unfortunately, five Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the past 24 hours. Another four soldiers were wounded," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Sunday, May 29. Ukraine Today reports that the ceasefire was broken 30 times:

Ukraine military reports 13 attacks in the direction of Donetsk, 12 – in the direction of Mariupol, five more – in Luhansk direction.

In unrelated news, a terrible fire spread through a nursing home north of Kiev, killing 17 elderly residents. Sky News reports:

The blaze broke out at the residential property in Litochky, 23 miles northeast of the capital Kiev.

Ukraine’s emergency services ministry said the fire had started in the early hours of Sunday morning in a privately-owned two-storey building that was temporarily housing 35 people.

“Emergency services units saved 18 people, five of whom have been hospitalised with burns of varying degrees of severity,” it said.

Fire Kills 17 At Home For The Elderly In Ukraine

At least 17 people have been killed in a fire at an elderly people's home in a village in Ukraine. The blaze broke out at the residential property in Litochky, 23 miles northeast of the capital Kiev.
