The shelling follows a day of intense fighting across the front line that left two Ukrainian soldiers dead.
Three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in battle today. Heavy snowstorms have closed roads in Odessa and other provinces and power is out in some areas. But water was restored to some areas of Lugansk Region after the Russia-backed separatist authorities paid part of their bills.
The Ukrainian military reports 15 attacks by Russia-backed forces yesterday.
One Ukrainian soldier was killed and three wounded by enemy fire; another was killed by a defector.
