Novaya Gazeta has obtained a document indicating that Aleksandr Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee, has submitted his resignation.
Vladimir Markin, the spokesman for the Investigative Committee and a controversial figure associated with Russia’s most politicized criminal prosecutions, is reportedly stepping down from his position, says a TASS source.
The Russian Investigative Committee has completed its investigation of suspects in the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.
Negligence by the management of Domodedovo Airport enabled the 2011 terrorist attack on the airport, said Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the Investigative Committee. While a settlement has been reached between management of Domodedovo and the victims, the owner of the airport, Dmitry Kamenshchik, remains under house arrest.
