Yet Another Lenin Statue Toppled in Ukraine

A monument to Lenin at a school yard in the Ukrainian city of Berdichev has been toppled. According to a report from the press office of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Zhitomir Region, “a group of persons evidently took part in the destruction of the statue, since one person would not be strong enough to knock over a statue about 2 meters high, placed on a foundation of 1.75 meters.”

The incident took place on the night of 6 January. Information about the incident was recorded in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, ITAR-TASS reported.

The persons who took part in this crime maybe brought up on charges of hooliganism.

This past night a monument to Lenin in the district center of Berezovka in Odessa Region was also destroyed. As Col. Vladimir Shablenko, head of the public liaison department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Odessian Region, stated, “unknown persons threw a package of black ink at the statute. We will recall that there has also been a report that the monument in Odessa Region self-destructed.
